My Interview for EQ Newsletter

Would you like to know more about me and my passion for quilting, and especially for shadow trapunto ? You can read my interview for Electric Quilt newsletter.

The entire newsletter

Eight years ago when I started quilting I did not dream that this could happen to me. At that time I did not know anything about quilting.

I can’t thank enough to Penny McMorris for this opportunity. And for the best quilting software. Without Electric Quilt, I would not have found my biggest love in quilting: shadow trapunto !

Thank you all for reading this !

A surprise for me...

...arrived a few days ago, from my friend Teodora.

Two wonderful chenille pillows.

Teodora made her own chenille tape first, then she stitched it down on that beautiful green fabric.

The pillows have an amazing texture, are soft and fluffy...

And this is a beautiful quilted pouch, with a perfect sewn zipper (I am envious :)) !

What else can I say ? Thank you, Teodora, they will be much loved !

The blue bag

My sister Oana has a few bags made by me but she loves blue color. Naturally, I made this bag for her !

I modified again the pattern and I made a smaller version.

I think this was the last bag, at least for a while. I am preparing for vacation !

We all enjoyed Madonna's concert. It was FANTASTIC !

Purple bag

I made this purple bag for my sister Nina. She loves purple color.
We will have warm weather for probably two or three more weeks so I am so glad that she can wear it this season.

I modified a little the previous pattern. That striped fabric is gorgeous and I didn’t want to cut the corners.

I took the time and made a nice quilting on front.

I had only a few small pieces of fabrics (they were samples ) but it was the exact yardage needed.

This time the zipper is perfectly sewn. It's easier to sew it on thick fabric.

Tomorrow all my family will be so happy.
Me, my husband, all my three sisters, we all go to Bucharest to see Madonna in concert. Madonna will be in Romania for the first time, we all are so excited. We count the hours until the concert will start.

I am not bored...

... by this pattern.

Yesterday I played with stripes.

Next week I will go to Ikea and I hope to find more fabrics with stripes.

I am crazy about this green one. It is simple and stylish and that green is the color I love the most.

Other Favorite Purses

I made other two purses using the pattern of my favorite purse.
The fabrics are the same heavy cotton canvas from Ikea I used in other bags.

Now I love this pattern even more !

Though I didn' t use contrasting colors and the pockets are not so visible in the pictures, they are there ! The pockets make this purse so special !

I made this purse for the little girl of my Romanian friends from USA.
They visited me in weekend. Alexa was delighted to receive it !

The pink fabric is velevet.

Personalized pillows

I made these pillows for two young girls- two friends.

I fused the letter onto the background then I appliqued them using a wide satin stitch.

I made for the first time prairie points and it was fun !

I don't enjoy too much sewing appliques, but this was a special project! The girls are special !

The New Favorite Bag...

is this:

It has two interior pockets and magnetic snap closure.

It is very roomy. It's medium size so it can be carried on shoulder or held in hand.

You can learn how to sew a version without lining here.
And a version with lining (useful for learning how to sew the handles) here.

I wanted a different shape and I made my own pattern. I also made gussets in the bottom to maximize the capacity of the bag.

This is half of my pattern

Quilted gift ideas

These are a few projects I made in the last years.

For a little girl's room

I love raw edge appliques ! I made trapunto under the flower.

I usually use free motion for stitching the appliques.

For a coffee table - raw edge applique again.
I love these little pieces made from kaleidoscope blocks.

I have a fan ruler for making this block, it is so fun ! I could make it in every possible colors combination !
A beautiful batik like this does not need too many embellishments. I appliqued a fusible bias tape.

They all are quick and easy projects great for gifts.

Stripes tote bag

I have a friend for over 25 years. We were classmates for 10 years and her son is my godson.
Today is her birthday. She loves green color (just like me !) so I made for her this green tote.

I used these fabrics from Ikea. I like stripes ! It was very easy to piece the front of the tote.
