Temari Balls

I love Temari balls ! Have you tried this craft ? I learned about it last year, when I saw a few pictures on Flickr.
If quilting will give me someday a little break, this could be my new addiction. If you don't need a new addiction in your crafting life, close this post!

I already made the first step - I bought a book. I made a few researches and I read good reviews of this book so I bought it.

A good friend sent me a few styrofoam balls and some threads and I am ready to start...The author says it is not a hard technique and a ball can be made in one-two evenings.

If you are interested, there are a lot of information on this websites:

Here is a fabulous tutorial:
and here are amazing balls made by the tutorial's author:

If you still need more pictures, here are:

Happy browsing!

Wow...that pretty much says it all. I had never heard of temari before but it is fascinating.

I can see how they could become addicting if one could make them at all.

Hi! I got to know about Temari recently, just by chance, in a crafting mag and got very interested too! I didn't even know there are books on this subject, thanks for sharing!
Just can't believe they can be made this fast!
Good luck with temari:)

I make temari for 3 or 4 years ago, although I have no time to do all that I like. Someday I'll post the photos of my temaris in my blog.
I love your blog and would like to learn how to make shadow trapunto

I tried this years ago and made one ball. I still have it and I still love it. I know you will do very well at it, just like your other projects. Beautiful work.

You MUST try them Geta!! My Mom started doing some Japanese Embroidery (WAY too intense for me at my tender age of 'cough, 48, cough." But she and I also decided to start experimenting in Sashiko quilting, Origami quilts and Temari balls. I think it is going to be way too much fun and we will both need to add MORE to our stashes, oh SHUCKS! LOL

For the time being I want to make a couple of cute young teen purses for my two nieces and my two daughters. Something to give these young ladies something to bring them some pleasure and joy.

My youngest Sister, her spouse and their younger daughter had the indescribable, heart-shattering duty to give her to the Lord. She was so remarkable, and adorable, that at the tender age of 12 was active in saving seal cubs, working to feed the homeless and spread hope to homeless children. She gave away some many little pieces of her beautiful heart through her good works that she did not leave enough for herself.

After that I am working on some Shadow Trapunto and Applique Prayer Shawl patterns for some customers with special requests.

Happy Holidays to you Geta! Thank you so much for all of your wonderful inspiration, designs, quilts and willingness to share them!

Best Regards (and some great BIG hugs!)
