Inspired by a Baby Boy

I am happy and excited to share with you my latest quilt! I enjoyed so much working on it - no wonder- I made it for Alex, my 8 month old nephew.

He can't yet build himself little castles from wooden blocks,

so here are the 12 little castles I built for him.

I started cutting and piecing the blocks thinking that this step will take me forever because all the blocks are different and I was surprised by how quickly I finished the piecing -in a day.

I love everything about this quilt!

 - the solid fabric, the color palette -

 - the design of the blocks -

- the fabulous textured quilting given by the cotton batting- something I don't use every day so that I can appreciate it even more -

- the wide binding (almost 3/4'') -

I am glad that I took the time to piece it from many colors - it's great!

The quilting was fun, I mean FUN! And easy! SUPER-EASY!

If you are interested in free motion quilting, follow my blog because I have a few new ideas for a few FMQ lessons.

If you want to build yourself little castles, the pattern is available here:

I finished the quilt two weeks ago, I already gave it to Alex  (pictures soon) and I am still excited !
I should work now on my abandoned summer bags!

Love it, love it!! (Just like all your work.) When he's older he'll be able to build castles that look like your blocks! Very cool. :D

The binding is perfect with all the piecing you did. I like a wider binding every once in a while, as well.

Everything about this quilt is amazing - the colors, variety, the quilting, the binding! It's wonderful. I think my 10 year old nephew would even get a kick out of it. You should be super proud!

As usual, Geta, you have come up with a wonderful design. So cheerful! It's not always easy coming up with designs for boys, but this one is great. I just love your designs!

Fantastic....the blocks, the quilting..everything about it! Now you know why I always use cotton batting for bed quilts.

I have been practicing free motion quilting and can't wait for your lessons. You do such beautiful quilting.
What kind of a machine do you quilt with?
