Teach Me 12- Smocking fabric

Here is my first attempt at smocking fabric. I love it and I imagine many uses for such textured fabric.

I learned to do this following this easy  tutorial.

It's not that I don't already have too many boards on Pinterest, but I created a new one,  Fabric Texture.

Now back to the boring task of writing a pattern!
Have a great sewing week,
Geta

Edited: One of my readers sent me the link to this website. You have to see this Brazilian artist's work. I browsed her site from start to finish.

I'm now working also at smocking patterns, if you chanched the grit you get smart patterns.

That looks totally amazing! I thought it was braided somehow.

I used to make my daughter hats using this technique (46+ years ago!). I used gingham check fabric...squares already marked!
